0. Introduction

These are just some instructions for a quick start with KisoCD; for a full
documentation please read the help.

If you are a user on a multi-user system, KisoCD may not look like described
or you may not be able to set all the options. In this case your
system-administrator has set some options to the values which make sense
on the system and has maybe even disabled some menues he doesn't want
you to use.
[ 2]
1. Starting a "file manager"

First you'll have to start the KFileManager or a simple build-in substitution.
If you have a kfm, try "View|kfm", else choose "View|simple filemanager".
[ 3]
2. Filling your CD with contents, the basics....

If you are lucky to have kfm, simply drag the files/directories you want to
have on your CD into KisoCD's right window.
For the "simple filemanager": select the files/directories (here it can only
be one at a time) and press "transfer highlighted".

When you drop them, a window will pop up, asking you how to drop the
things. Well, best is to try all of them to see how they work and also
read the help. For a first try, take "with directory" for directories and
"only the file" for files.

Depending on how big the dropped directory was, KisoCD may work on
your harddisk for a long time!
[ 4]
3. ...and the things which make KisoCD a powerful tool

Of course you don't have to put everything to the root-directory of your
CD. Everything you drop will be put relative to the directory which is
chosen in the "directories"-window. So choose the place you'd like to put
it to before you drop.
You can also put things into new directories using one of the options you
get when dropping.
However, the most easiest way to do it is to create the new directories
using "virtual CD|new directory...". Just create new directories and
fill them later. If they remain empty, they will not be on the CD.

If you've done something wrong, you can use "virtual CD|Edit...",
choose the "wrong" action in the "includes"-window and
hit "remove".
In the right part of that window you can name files/directories or regular
expressions for those you do not want to include on your CD.

4. The options

Before burning your CD you have to give me some extra-information. Hit
"Options" in the menu-bar and choose at least your device, which kind of
filesystem you want to use, the writing-speed, if you want to burn
on-the-fly or if you like to create an image-file first.

If you use the software or hardware for the first time, make a "dummy-write"
first; this means that everything is done is usual, but the laser of your
CD-writer is turned off. So you don't waste a CD if there are problems.
[ 6]
5. Saving your work

Well, I think that's clear. Try "File|Save As..".
[ 7]
6. ...the last step

Simply hit "File|Burn CD" and KisoCD will automatically make the last
steps.

Have fun!
